Masters and Non-Degree Programs
Masters of Education, Post Baccalaureate Initial Licensure Programs
The College of Education offers six Master of Education (M.Ed.) programs for adults who have earned a bachelor’s degree (i.e., you are post baccalaureate), may have some professional work experience, and want to obtain teaching credentials. This program is designed to meet the needs of adult learners, with courses offered in the evenings and/or offered in a blended or online format. The program of study combines course work and field experiences to prepare candidates for teacher licensure.

The College of Education offers four Master of Education (M.Ed.) degrees for Professional Development or Added Endorsement is offered for practicing teachers who already possess initial licensure and is designed to provide opportunities for continuing professional development, master’s level licensure for teachers and other school personnel, or endorsements in teaching or administration. Students in these programs must possess a collegiate professional or postgraduate professional Virginia license.
Accelerated Master of Education for Instructional Improvement (M.Ed)
The Accelerated Masters of Education for Instructional Improvement offers licensed teachers the opportunity to develop research skills, enhance their practice, and explore an area of professional interest through course selection within a cognate.
Students completing this program will develop and a conduct culminating research project. This pathway will be offered in a cohort format and is designed for professional development and does not lead directly to state endorsement or licensure.
