Call Me MiSTER

The mission of Call Me MiSTER (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models) is to increase the pool of available teachers from a broader range of communities and educational backgrounds in Virginia’s K-12 teacher workforce. Call Me MiSTER (CMM) prepares participants for impactful careers as elementary, middle, or high school teachers through the provision of resources and support to successfully persist them through the process of navigating college.

The University of Mary Washington, the College of Education, and Call Me MiSTER welcome high school, prospective, current, transfer, and continuing education students!

Call Me MiSTER focuses on:

Employment: We partner with area school division on employment opportunities so students can earn while they learn.

Mentoring: Students have an assigned CMM mentor, advisor, and experienced mentor teachers and supervisors to guide them through coursework and K-12 experiences.

Community: Connections with peers, mentors, and community members are established and fostered to support with a sense of belonging.

Funding: Funding for scholarships, basic needs, emergencies, practicums, and internships may be available to qualifying students.
