COURSE OUTCOMES Students completing this course will be able to:

  1. Understand the need for language support and demonstrate how to scaffold and differentiate lessons to meet standards; Incorporate strategies in lesson planning in the content areas that reflect socio-cultural competence and understanding of the development process for ELLs;
  2. Employ first and second language acquisition research into teaching content area subjects; Describe literacy issues and the implications on teaching and the learning of culturally and linguistically diverse students;
  3. Relate to the General Principles of Language Acquisition as outlined in the current TESOL Standards K-12; The current state standards for English Language Learners known as the WIDA;
