Kiera Croswait

Secondary English

Fun Fact: I love going to concerts and seeing my favorite artists live (I’ve seen Harry Styles in concert twice)!

Why do you want to be a teacher? I want to be a teacher because I want to be able to create a learning environment where students aren’t dreading coming to school and can foster their knowledge in a way that is meaningful to their lives.

What do you like about COE? My favorite thing about the COE is the community. Every single professor is so kind and understanding, and it’s clear from day one that they will always be there to support you.

Katie Menjivar Castro

Elementary and Special Education

Fun Fact: I prefer rewatching my favorite movies or rereading my favorite books rather than watching or reading new ones.

Why do you want to be a teacher? : I have always loved working with kids, so I knew I wanted to do some career in which I work with kids. Growing up I had so many amazing and inspiring teachers that helped me become the motivated and kind person I am today, and I hope to inspire future students as they inspired me.

What do you like about COE? The reason I love COE is because of the multiple resources that are provided to students. We have amazing and understanding professors that are all willing to help you out in any way they can and inspire you to become the best teachers you can be. I also love the multiple practicum experiences that are offered for students to get as much in classroom experience as possible.

Elementary Education

Fun Fact: I have a great memory for song lyrics. It only takes me one time listening to a song to know all the words.

Why do you want to be a teacher? I wanted to become a teacher because I have always loved learning and I want to make school a place where students can feel safe, loved, and prepared for their next stages of life.

What do you like about COE? One thing I love about the COE is the professors. I love how much they care that we are prepared to be in our own classroom years before we graduate.
