The UMW Autism Clinic and Play Lab is a program run by the Graduate Special Education program at the University of Mary Washington’s College of Education.
The name UMW Play Lab was chosen because it is in fact a “lab” model for our UMW students to practice and receive training in working with children with ASD and related disabilities. Play was chosen because each time it is offered, the themes would be based upon play-based learning activities to support the children’s development in sensory, social, behavioral, communication and academic areas.
