Master of Education, Post Baccalaureate Initial Licensure Pathways

Prospective Students: Steps to Prepare for a Program

  1. Have been awarded a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University
  2. Have taken and passed the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators (Reading, Writing and Mathematics) or have qualifying substitute scores.
  3. Print the Program Checksheet for the grade level or subject area you wish to teach.
  4. Complete the Endorsement checksheet (second page of Program checksheet) using your College/University transcripts to match your courses with the requirements.
  5. Attend one of the Endorsement Workshops where an adviser will help you complete the Endorsement Checksheet.
  6. Complete the UMW Graduate Application and submit all required documents by the filing date.
