The College of Education has two upcoming group information sessions for students interested in applying to the program: Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, February 12, both at 5 p.m. in Trinkle Hall, Room 210. FOURTH ANNUAL UMW EDTECH CONFERENCE A SUCCESS As reported by Melina Downs: FREDERICKSBURG, VA (March 14, 2014)- Educators from across the region came together March 14 for the Fourth Annual EdTech Conference at the University of Mary Washington to talk about ways to change learning in the digital age. Students from J.W. Alvey Elementary School show Catherine Walker, adjunct instructor for the UMW College of Education, a project that they are completing. Pictured from left are Walker, fourth-graders Misha Padigala and Jessica Minelli. Sign up to be a Tutor @ HungryBrains! at Hazel Hill

HungryBrains! at Hazel Hill (formerly Hazel Hill Homework Club) is seeking spring tutors. This program is an after-school tutoring program for diverse, high-poverty elementary and middle school students at the Section 8 Hazel Hill Apartments in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia. The club is owned by the National Housing Trust and tutoring is organized through the College of Education at the University of Mary Washington. Tutoring takes place at the Hazel Hill Community Center (100 Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg, Virginia) Mondays - Thursdays from 4PM-6PM. We are also starting a Friday after-school enrichment program with individual students in STEM, math, science, literacy, social studies and other subjects through projects and games.
